About

Angello is an award-winning cinematographer who actively balances narrative, documentary, and commercial projects. His debut feature film, LAPÜ (2019), premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and had its European premiere at the Berlinale (Forum), later winning Best Cinematography at the Boston Film Festival. His second feature, MILESTONE (2020), shot in India and produced by Netflix, premiered in the Orizzonti section of the Venice International Film Festival. His third feature, LOS CASI ÍDOLOS DE BAHÍA COLORADA (2023), is a vibrant and colorful comedy produced by Mónica Lozano (Amores Perros) and Netflix, filmed in Sinaloa, Mexico.

Upcoming releases include CARROPASAJERO (2024), a hybrid documentary shot in the Guajira Desert in Colombia, which premiered at Visions du Réel and won Best Cinematography at the Belo Horizonte Film Festival, and WHERE THE SILENCE PASSES (2024), a gritty handheld drama that premiered in the New Directors section at the San Sebastián Film Festival and was nominated for a Goya Award for Best Director.

In 2025, he premiered THE MYSTERIOUS GAZE OF THE FLAMINGO, a queer western filmed in Chile’s Atacama Desert, which won the Un Certain Regard section at the 78th Cannes Film Festival. That same year, he released THE ANATOMY OF HORSES (2025), a modern western set in the Peruvian Andes, which premiered at Karlovy Vary International Film Festival and won Best Cinematography at the Sevilla International Film Festival and FIPRESCI at the Torino Film Festival.

Angello has also directed two award-winning documentary short films: DULCE (2019), which won Best Documentary at Palm Springs and Tampere Film Festival and was nominated at Sundance, TIFF, and IDFA; and LANAWARU (2024), winner of the Golden Hugo at the Chicago International Film Festival and nominated at Camerimage and Clermont-Ferrand International Film Festival.

He has collaborated with legendary directors such as David LaChapelle and has shot commercials for brands including Apple, Coca-Cola, McDonald’s, and Corona. His commercial work earned him Best Cinematography at the Círculo de Creativos de México (2022) and nominations for Best Cinematography at the Ciclope Awards and Cannes Lions.
